Senior Practices Matches This Weekend 12/13th Sept

As the season approaches we move into two rounds of practice matches. This weekend we will have two matches against Moorabbin who are in the sub district league so this should be a good challenge. If you are not playing why not get down and support your team mates. With a weekend of great weather predicted it would be a good way to spend a few hours on either day, bring your sun cream.

Carnegie CC Call For Senior Captains

The Carnegie CC committee welcomes candidates for team captains for season 2015/16 (with the exception of the 1st XI). We extend our gratitude to last seasons’s captains and look forward to making the announcements of new captains in due course.

The Passing of Stan Rowland

It is with great sadness we note the recent passing of Carnegie Cricket Club life member and fine cricketer Stan Rowland at the age of 85 after a short illness.

Stan played at Carnegie from 1946 until his retirement in 1981. Most notably, Stan was a member of the legendary 1955-56 VJCA (later VTCA) Senior Division premiership side. Less well known is that he was also a member of the 1971-72 VJCA South B premiership side, which came during a tumultuous time for the club when dedicated members such as Stan helped the club transition into a new era.

Stan attended the very first of the club’s annual Past Players’ Days, which the club established upon its 90th anniversary in season 2002-03. He made the trip from his longtime home in Pambula Beach, NSW, to join us at Koornang Park, a mark of his loyalty and dedication to our club.

The committee and members of the Carnegie Cricket Club extend sympathies to Stan’s family, in particular his wife Win and sons Paul and Peter.

Stan Rowland, a life member of Carnegie CC and a gun player from WWII through until the early 80s, past away on the 22nd of August at the Pambula Hospital in NSW after a short illness.

Stan was a member of both the 1955/56 VJCA Senior Division and the 1971/72 VJCA South B1 premiership sides.

Stan still had a keen interest in the goings on at Carnegie CC and kept intouch with fellow members from that stellar era in the clubs history.

Aged 85 years Stan was Husband of Win. Father to Paul and Peter. Father-in-law of Virginia and Andrea. Poppy to Hugh, Michaela, Hamish and Ben.

Our thoughts are with the family, Stan will be sadly missed.

The Carnegie CC Senior Pre-Season Starts This Sunday the 26th @ 9.45am

The wait is over!

The Carnegie CC Senior pre-season starts this Sunday Morning at 9.45am @ Sandown Indoor Sports Centre. This will be the first main session under new coach Vinay Tripathi so it would be great to see big numbers in attendance for the start of a big season. We will have 3 nets and the indoor tennis court operating, lots of new drills will be taking place so be ready for a big session.
