Under 12 Rookies

Carnegie Cricket Club will have 3 Under 12 Rookie teams in 2020/21.

The rookies competition is intended as a transition format for those young players making the jump to hard ball cricket.  It is prefect for those players who have completed Master Blasters or for the player is is not quite ready to face the hard leather ball.

The Rookies will play the Stage 1 modified rules.  The format is a 7 v 7 match.  The pitch is shorthened to 16m and the boundary is nice and close to reward the players who can hit the ball with some power.  Wickets are counted as penalties rather than dismissals and the ball is a medium rubber ball.

Dependant on ground allocations, Rookies will pay Sunday mornings.  For all teams here is a 1-2 hour training session held during a weeknight from 4-7PM. Games are played once a week (~2 hours).

For players who are aged 9-11 years old and under at 31/08/2020

Under 12

Carnegie Cricket Club will have 6 or 7 Under 12 teams in 2020/21.

The Under 12 will play Stage 2 or Stage 3 depending on the grade they are allocated into.  Under 12 teams is hard ball cricket and a step up from the Rookies. However the main aim is still all about fun, enjoyment and developing game skills in a grade that matches each player’s development level.

U12 C and D playing Stage 2.  This is a 9 v 9 format and the pitch is shortened to 18m.  Wicket are counted as dismissals and the ball is a regulation leather cricket ball.

U12 A, B will play VMCU modified rules on a shorter pitch. These will be 11 v 11 grades but still play off the 18m pitch.  Like above wickets are counted as dismissals and the ball is a regulation leather ball.

With the number of teams we are likley to fielkd we expect that we will have teams on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings. While we try our best to accommodate all requests, please try and be flexible however as we cannot always accommodate every request.
For all teams there is a 1-2 hour training session held during a weeknight from 4-7PM. Games are played once a week (2.5 hours) either Friday nights, Saturday or Sunday mornings.

For players who are aged 9 – 11 years at 31/08/2020

There is 1-2 hour training session held during a weeknight between 4-7:30pm with the coaching geared towards challenging the players to better their skills whilst still maintaining the fun elements of the game. Games are played once a week (2.5-3.0 hours) with all U13,U14 teams likely to be placed in Friday Night competitions (TBC).
