2014/15 Pre-season Training
Seniors Update
What a big and long pre-season it has been! We started way back at the end of July and ended with the training/season launch with over 60 seniors in attendance, well done to all that have participated and thank you to all the coaches that have put in their time and effort.
Juniors Update
The junior pre-season has also been underway for sometime now with great numbers and extra teams/coaches. It’s a great year to get involved with the juniors, with some really great talent on show. Round one starts on the 10th of October.
Round 2 Seniors Information
Round 2 matches we plan for all matches to proceed this weekend, the weather is looking good for the rest of this week with a very small chance of rain. The teams have now been updated.
Training
All training sessions are now outdoors at Koornang Park (KP) as our indoor pre-season has been completed, mid week sessions we have the flood lights running so there will be plenty of fielding practice when it is dark.
Regular training schedule is now in operation with sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 5.45pm til 7.15pm now that daylight saving has begun.
Social Functions Update
Juniors
The juniors season launch is this Saturday the 11th of October from 4.30 till 6.30pm. The function will start while the seniors are still playing out in the middle at Koornang Park, a free BBQ and drinks at bar prices will be running.
Seniors
The reverse shuffle song night is on again this year, last year it was very well attended and a great night had by all. Save the 15th of November for this one.
Past Players/Social Club
Interesting developments happening here so stay tuned, the past player/social club will be getting together at regular intervals from 3pm on designated Saturdays and Sundays during the season, a schedule will be released on the website soon. A great value package is available that includeds the first drink of your choice free at the bar on these designated days.
Past Players Day 2013/14
The 2014 Stockdale & Leggo Glen Huntly Past Players Day will be held on Saturday, February 8 at Koornang Park, commencing at 4pm (or 7pm if solely attending for the dinner and guest speaker).
We are delighted to announce David Parkin as our guest speaker. David played 211 games for Hawthorn in the VFL before commencing a celebrated coaching career at three clubs (Hawthorn, Carlton and Fitzroy) and more latterly media stints with 774 ABC and Foxtel.
David will be interviewed on stage by former ‘Negie captain and coach, Elliot Cartledge, followed by a question and answer format.
The 1st XI will be doing battle against Hampton in the afternoon, so this is a terrific opportunity to show your support. As we always do, there will be plenty of scorebooks, photos and memorabilia on display, not to mention the chance to renew acquaintances with old teammates.
Vale Arnold Harrington
Members, friends, past players and the current Carnegie CC committee extend our deepest condolences to Lorna and family upon the passing of Arnold Harrington (1937 – 2013).
Arnold played for many years, held down the post of treasurer for eight years, audited the club’s books and was an active participant in many past players days in recent times. He was an immensely popular figure.
In the words of the late Noel Tyers, we remember “a great Carnegie man”.
Grill’d Local Matters – CCC October
Get into Grill’d and get a healthy burger and drop your token into the CCC jar!
HOW IT WORKS
“It’s a pretty high-tech system involving bottle tops, jars & counting… The $500 will be split amongst 3 local groups. Each group will be represented on a different jar. Every time a customer buys a burger we’ll give them a token (ok, it’s a bottle top from our friends at Little Creatures). Our customers decide who they’d like us to support by choosing which jar to put their token in. At the end of the month, we’ll count up the tokens to figure out who gets what. We’ll split the money $300 / $100 / $100, so everyone gets something. Pretty simple really.”
CCC to host t20 Blast
CCC will host the T20 BLAST (a modified rules cricket game specifically to fill the gap between in2CRICKET and competitive hard ball cricket).
T20 BLAST will run on a Saturday morning at Koornang Park, with a BBQ, and 1st & 2nd XI players will be in attendance.

Highlights
Under 11 Blue (Friday) – Luca Trumble and Luca Amodeo claimed early wickets. Aidan McMillan chimed in with a handy wicket and Angus Nicolay kept up the high standard in the field with another run out. Chasing 96 for victory, Hayden Short got us going, then Charlie Clancy settled in. Lucas Baldwin and Seamus Cockle both looked solid but with three overs to go we were 8/75. Luca Amodeo hit well to put us back in the game and Thomas Williamson guided us home.
Under 11 Gold (Sunday) – English coach Dan Smith had the boys ready and Shiv Patel struck with the first wicket. Evan Margaritis was the best of the bowlers early on, Daniel Michaels and Daniel Tucker were great in the field and Pratham Raje’s second spell was terrific. Andrew Callaghan claimed a wicket and Jacob Murphy bowled two very tight overs. Chasing 104, Charlie Clancy was in great form. Josh Finklestein looked like he was well in command before being run out but rain then drowned out the rest of the match.
Under 13 (Friday) – A two-day game, Daniel Strom took a wicket in the first over. Lachlan Priest executed a brilliant run out with a direct hit and Josh Hickman’s tight bowling was rewarded with a wicket caught by new player Nick Holten off a skied ball. We lost our way a little after the tea break and the Beenas took full toll before we got back on track with an inspirational catch from Daniel Strom off Jacob Pompeous’ bowling. Ahay Rhajwar was consistent all day and Charlie-Joe was close to hitting the stumps on several occasions. Oliver Trumble finished the day with a clean bowled and a unassisted run out off the last ball. We chase 196 this week.
