A massive weekend is ahead for the Neggie with 12 games taking place and 20/20 action also to follow on Tuesday night. Looking for lots of wins this weekend!

The firsts and seconds both have double headers this weekend, so make sure all players prepare to a high standard to get onto the field is best possible condition for both days.

The First XI is at home on Saturday to Parkdale UTD, the first’s are looking to bounce back this Saturday with the return of the swashbuckling skipper “Fenno”. Get down to Koornang Park and support the lads. The First’s then saddle up again on Sunday this time down @ Dendy Park vs BDCC in a South Division clash, with Peter Cassidy making his long awaited return for the club. Special mention to Alan “Budgie” Patey and Daniel “WK” Walton for doing some wicket prep @ KP this afternoon in the heat and straight from work, well done lads.

The Seconds head down the Jack Grut Reserve to play Parkdale UTD on Saturday, the seconds are in good form sitting on top with only one narrow loss so far for the season. The Seconds then host BDCC at Lord Reserve on Sunday in a South Seconds clash, rumor has it that one of our old players and Bubbles best mate Brian Randall will be up against us.

The 3rd’s are mid match on Saturday down at Lord Reserve against Mooney Valley and we are 0/17 chasing 176 for the win.

The equal top of the ladder 4th XI are away this week out at Fawkner Park #2 vs Monash Uni with Tony Gabbert making his return, i’m sure the opposition will love his advice whilst they are batting.

The Sunday A Grade is away at Monash Uni with the match slightly in Monash’s favour with Carnegie defending 173 all out and Monash Uni 1/29 in reply. Get some quick wickets lads and we will be back in front here.

The Sunday B grade coming off 2 back to back wins are looking to make it 3 in a row and this time coming up against long term club rivals in Clayton Districts. I have noticed the Brian Lazzaro is umpiring so make sure the game is finished by 6pm!

More about the T20 vs McKinnon @ McKinnon on Tuesday, we will name the team on the front page of the website. Also training will be optional on this Tuesday so we can get down and support our very successful T-20 side.

This Weekend

Another big weekend in cricket coming up after some big wins last weekend placing 3 of our senior sides in the top 2.

Juniors

It all starts with the juniors tonight, the U-11 Colts and he U-13’s both @ home and the U-11 Gryphons and  U-15’s away. Tomorrow morning hots up and it will need to be with cool wet conditions predicted. The U-11 Gold after their big win last week against the Beena’s will be looking for back to back win’s @ Lord #3. The T-20 blast is on again with 100+ kids expected @ Koornang Park, get down and help out with the BBQ boys. Good luck to all our junior sides this weekend and do the club proud.

Seniors

The 1st XI is taking the long trip to the GP track to meet Middle Park, it has been some years since we played Middle Park and they should be up and about after beating Moorabbin Park last weekend. Rondog “Guava” Buckley is at the helm (with Fenno in Bali on the beach) lets hope his spin bowling is not required!

The 2nd’s are at home on a fresh deck also to Middle Park, welcome back to Andrew “Bubbles” Morrissey up from the 4ths and last season’s keeper Lukas “Checkers Son” Krajewski.

The 3rd’s are down at the home of Cricket “Lord” Jomesh James back in the mix after 50+ runs in the 4th’s last week.

The 4th’s are down @ our 3rd ground Princes Park Oval #4. Dave Goodey in charge with the only dedicated team manager in the club Gemma T. What a support team he has down there. I have noticed another player back out of retirement on the team list with Rohan “Hero” Storey set to play.

The A grade is away again, they appear to be a permanent away team these days, this time they are out at Monash Uni. The boys fell short last week chasing 265. Lets hope there is a win this round.

The Sunday B Grade is @ KP again this week, i bet Ari Morton will be bowling from the Lyons st end this week after being hit for a towering six that cleared the pavillion last week, Ari had the last laugh with a LBW next ball. Big hitting S.Wai is having a run and i notice the clubs oldest player Tim “MG” Dodgson is again putting his hand up for Sunday duties after knocking up another 30 odd in the 2nd’s last week.

With rain set to be around both days make sure all players get to home games early to assist the ground staff and the skippers with covers and wet area’s around the covers.

This week sponsor for mention is allaspects plumbing, the owner Stuart is a dedicated member of the club and does both commercial and domestic plumbing jobs. So if it is a blocked drain to a new hot hotwater service Stuart is your man. Just give Stuart a call for a quote on any plumbing you need 0413 551 255.

Don’t miss the fun!

1st & 2nd Fixture Error on MyCricket

A quick note about the South A1 & A2 Fixtures. We are scheduled for a bye twice during this season on My Cricket, this is misleading as when we are scheduled for the bye we will actually be playing Brighton Districts from South Division & South 2nds. If you select these grades in My Cricket you will see our actual fixtured matches for those two rounds, just selecting A1 or A2 will not show these matches. We are aware that some members are expecting that these days will actually be fixtured byes but this is incorrect. Both the 1st & 2nd XI’s will be playing back to back one day games on the 8th and 9th of November, so get the ice bath’s ready!

Go The Neg

Round 3 & 4 Update

What a big weekend of cricket it is going to be at the Neg, starting tonight:

Friday Night

Heaps of Junior action with the U-11 Gryphons @ Victory Square vs Toorak/Prahran Red, always a real contest this one. The U-11 Colts are @ Lord #3 vs Toorak Prahran Blue, the U-13’s are @ East Caulfield Reserve vs Mt Waverley Gold and the U-15’s @ Wellington Reserve vs Mulgrave/Wheelers Hill.

Saturday Morning

The U-11 Gold is @ Lord #3 vs Murrumbeena be there early 8.15am sharp for photo’s.

The T-20 Blast gets underway at 9am @ Koornang Park, this season we have 3 teams entered and if you haven’t been down to the blast before get down and have a look. 120 plus kids out on Koornang Park all at once what a sight for a cricket lover. Anybody wishing to help out turning a snag or assist in the kitchen please get down there from 8.30am.

Seniors

Saturday

The First XI is @ Koornang Park vs Murrumbeena, after the retirement last week of Checka Krajewski this has opened up some more movement between the teams with both Alan “Budgie” Patey and Johnny Young being promoted to the ones after both making runs last week. Regan “Guava” Buckley and Danny Davies both looking to carry on their great form from last week.

The Second XI is just around the corner @ Murrumbeena, a replay of last years last round top of the table clash. The seconds welcome back Andrew “Bucky” Oldfield from the National Broadband Network and Tim “MG” Dodgson from a spin bowling course. The 2nds are also happy to welcome down from the one’s due to work reasons Bimal Shah for his first game in the seconds since the 2009 Premiership win.

The 3rds are @ Centenary Park and have Bentleigh 6/47 chasing 132 so this match is currently in our favour. Stuart “Stuey” Easton has been practising his wrong’un all week and is looking for a bowl and could be the difference.

The 4th’s are @ McAlister Oval vs Youlden Parkville, with Dave “the model” Goodey in cracking form, the negs should go in confident. It should be mentioned that the stand in VP Simon “Friar Tuck” Barker is desperate for a hit out in the centre, the middle order is not getting a look in at the moment.

Sunday

Sunday A Grade are @ Loughnan vs Burnley we are chasing 265 with a full day to go get behind us on this one. Mayank “Mark” Srivastava due for another one of those “big” scores.

Sunday B Grade are @ Koornang Park vs the Melbourne Strikers, after a narrow last over loss last week i’m tipping the lads led by Geoff “i’m in a room of mirrors” Wilcock to make a big score and bring it home.

Sponsors

Great news for all that Grill’d Carnegie is back on board for this season as a sponsor, Grill’d really look after out juniors with plenty of awards and support. Look out for their banner at the ground and signs in the rooms. Make sure you get up the main street for a feed, they have great burgers. I recommend eating the Mightly Melbourne burger (actually 2 of them) what a feed!

Go Negs!

Round 3 Scores

With a mix of two day cricket and one day cricket happening at the moment we still have still have two games in progress and the other four rnd 3 matches having been completed.

The first’s had a big win against the boys from Glenhuntly Park with young UK lad Danny Davies knocking up 73 and flashing opener Aaron Fenton knocking up 38 with the Negs putting up a big total in 40 overs of 8/202. For Negs it was one way traffic with Regan “Guava” Buckley ripping through the top order with 6/21 and Bimal Shah assisting with 2/4 to have the NCGH all out for 58.

The seconds also had a big win in the semi final replay from last season, the Negs bowling McKinnon out for 64 with Brenton “Toss” Cranwell taking the figures with 8 overs 5/17 and Glenn Murphy 8 Overs 2/7. The runs started flowing early with Andrew “Punky” Brewster 17 and Alan “Budgie” Patey 38 setting a good foundation, John Young brought it home with 61 N.O. The Negs finished up 3/134 CC.

The 3rds match is still in progress with Carnegie in the lead.

The 4ths also had a big win bowling out Burnley for 124, Dave “The Model” Goodey with the figures 4/32 and D Singh with 3/9. Carnegie chased down the runs with ease making 1/145 when the game finished early. D.Goodey again with the runs 73 and Jomesh “Chopper” James knocking up 53.

B Sunday lost in a close one in the last over 160 cc to 164 with elder statesman Tim “MG” Dodgson scoring 40 and taking 3/22.

The A grade are chasing 265 against Burnley, lets hope all get to training to chase that big total down.

Don’t forget the reverse shuffle night on the 15th of November at the rooms, lock this one in.

Go the Negs!
