Saturday Morning

The U-11 Gold is @ Lord #3 vs Murrumbeena be there early 8.15am sharp for photo’s.

The T-20 Blast gets underway at 9am @ Koornang Park, this season we have 3 teams entered and if you haven’t been down to the blast before get down and have a look. 120 plus kids out on Koornang Park all at once what a sight for a cricket lover. Anybody wishing to help out turning a snag or assist in the kitchen please get down there from 8.30am.

Seniors

Saturday

The First XI is @ Koornang Park vs Murrumbeena, after the retirement last week of Checka Krajewski this has opened up some more movement between the teams with both Alan “Budgie” Patey and Johnny Young being promoted to the ones after both making runs last week. Regan “Guava” Buckley and Danny Davies both looking to carry on their great form from last week.

The Second XI is just around the corner @ Murrumbeena, a replay of last years last round top of the table clash. The seconds welcome back Andrew “Bucky” Oldfield from the National Broadband Network and Tim “MG” Dodgson from a spin bowling course. The 2nds are also happy to welcome down from the one’s due to work reasons Bimal Shah for his first game in the seconds since the 2009 Premiership win.

The 3rds are @ Centenary Park and have Bentleigh 6/47 chasing 132 so this match is currently in our favour. Stuart “Stuey” Easton has been practising his wrong’un all week and is looking for a bowl and could be the difference.

The 4th’s are @ McAlister Oval vs Youlden Parkville, with Dave “the model” Goodey in cracking form, the negs should go in confident. It should be mentioned that the stand in VP Simon “Friar Tuck” Barker is desperate for a hit out in the centre, the middle order is not getting a look in at the moment.

Sunday

Sunday A Grade are @ Loughnan vs Burnley we are chasing 265 with a full day to go get behind us on this one. Mayank “Mark” Srivastava due for another one of those “big” scores.

Sunday B Grade are @ Koornang Park vs the Melbourne Strikers, after a narrow last over loss last week i’m tipping the lads led by Geoff “i’m in a room of mirrors” Wilcock to make a big score and bring it home.

Sponsors

Great news for all that Grill’d Carnegie is back on board for this season as a sponsor, Grill’d really look after out juniors with plenty of awards and support. Look out for their banner at the ground and signs in the rooms. Make sure you get up the main street for a feed, they have great burgers. I recommend eating the Mightly Melbourne burger (actually 2 of them) what a feed!

Go Negs!

Round 3 Scores

With a mix of two day cricket and one day cricket happening at the moment we still have still have two games in progress and the other four rnd 3 matches having been completed.

The first’s had a big win against the boys from Glenhuntly Park with young UK lad Danny Davies knocking up 73 and flashing opener Aaron Fenton knocking up 38 with the Negs putting up a big total in 40 overs of 8/202. For Negs it was one way traffic with Regan “Guava” Buckley ripping through the top order with 6/21 and Bimal Shah assisting with 2/4 to have the NCGH all out for 58.

The seconds also had a big win in the semi final replay from last season, the Negs bowling McKinnon out for 64 with Brenton “Toss” Cranwell taking the figures with 8 overs 5/17 and Glenn Murphy 8 Overs 2/7. The runs started flowing early with Andrew “Punky” Brewster 17 and Alan “Budgie” Patey 38 setting a good foundation, John Young brought it home with 61 N.O. The Negs finished up 3/134 CC.

The 3rds match is still in progress with Carnegie in the lead.

The 4ths also had a big win bowling out Burnley for 124, Dave “The Model” Goodey with the figures 4/32 and D Singh with 3/9. Carnegie chased down the runs with ease making 1/145 when the game finished early. D.Goodey again with the runs 73 and Jomesh “Chopper” James knocking up 53.

B Sunday lost in a close one in the last over 160 cc to 164 with elder statesman Tim “MG” Dodgson scoring 40 and taking 3/22.

The A grade are chasing 265 against Burnley, lets hope all get to training to chase that big total down.

Don’t forget the reverse shuffle night on the 15th of November at the rooms, lock this one in.

Go the Negs!

We also have plenty of Junior games going on, Lord # 3 will see the Fri Night U-11’s and the Sat U-11’s going around so if you are about from 4.40pm on Friday or 9am on Saturday i’m sure the kids would love to see you down there. The U-15’s are just around the corner at Packer Park on Friday night from 4.40pm.

All other teams are away this weekend.

See you at the Neg!

Season Now in Full Swing

With round 2 now completed and only 2 matches so far this season effected by the weather all matches should be considered as proceding from now on.

We have already had some oustanding performances, with G.Singh the stand out in the 4th’s with an amazing 8/29 inc a Hat-trick. Also another Hat-trick this time in the B-Sunday from a new player S.TU. In other performances the skipper of the first XI has appeared in the A-Grade on Sunday and notched up a fast paced 67.

But with both the 1st’s and 2nd’s losing there round 2 clashes and both the 3rd and 4ths winning competition for spots this week should be hot.

Don’t forget the first social function the reverse shuffle night on the 15th of November.

Also another new sponsor is on-board this season with Del Mar just around the corner from the ground at 235-237 Koornang Rd Carnegie PH 9571 8662, why not head there for Breakfast or Lunch on Match days. Recently with a renovation now is the time to get around there.

We will also mention all our sponsors on the front page of the website weekly during the season, next week we have some exciting news about Grill’d

See you at the Neg!

Vale Arnold Harrington

arnold-harringtonMembers, friends, past players and the current Carnegie CC committee extend our deepest condolences to Lorna and family upon the passing of Arnold Harrington (1937 – 2013).

Arnold played for many years, held down the post of treasurer for eight years, audited the club’s books and was an active participant in many past players days in recent times. He was an immensely popular figure.

In the words of the late Noel Tyers, we remember “a great Carnegie man”.
