Round 3 Update

Round 3 senior teams have now been updated under the teams section on the website. The update from the selection panel is we have one spot left open in the MCA B grade on Sunday, if you have any interest please let Tim Dodgson know.
With great weather forecast and a belter of a track being served up at Koornang we should have a big weekend of cricket.
Home games this weekend are the 2nds at Koornang Park on Saturday vs McKinnon who knocked us off in the semi last year starting at 1.00pm being led by Glenn “Murf” Murphy with a few new faces including a new favourite with oppositions Louie Turpie.
The 4th XI at Princes Park #4 on Saturday starting at 12.30pm being led by Dave “The Model” Goodey and his trusty fence post. This game also see’s the return of Andrew “Bubbles” Morrissey from a long honeymoon.
The Sunday B Grade is at Koornang Park on Sunday starting at 12.30pm led by Geoff “I’m in a room of mirrors” Wilcock. This match see’s one of our oldest players taking to the field at the grand old age of 50, Tim “MG” Dodgson.

We also have plenty of Junior games going on, Lord # 3 will see the Fri Night U-11’s and the Sat U-11’s going around so if you are about from 4.40pm on Friday or 9am on Saturday i’m sure the kids would love to see you down there. The U-15’s are just around the corner at Packer Park on Friday night from 4.40pm.

All other teams are away this weekend.

See you at the Neg!

Season Now in Full Swing

With round 2 now completed and only 2 matches so far this season effected by the weather all matches should be considered as proceding from now on.

We have already had some oustanding performances, with G.Singh the stand out in the 4th’s with an amazing 8/29 inc a Hat-trick. Also another Hat-trick this time in the B-Sunday from a new player S.TU. In other performances the skipper of the first XI has appeared in the A-Grade on Sunday and notched up a fast paced 67.

But with both the 1st’s and 2nd’s losing there round 2 clashes and both the 3rd and 4ths winning competition for spots this week should be hot.

Don’t forget the first social function the reverse shuffle night on the 15th of November.

Also another new sponsor is on-board this season with Del Mar just around the corner from the ground at 235-237 Koornang Rd Carnegie PH 9571 8662, why not head there for Breakfast or Lunch on Match days. Recently with a renovation now is the time to get around there.

We will also mention all our sponsors on the front page of the website weekly during the season, next week we have some exciting news about Grill’d

See you at the Neg!

Round 2 Seniors Information

Round 2 matches we plan for all matches to proceed this weekend, the weather is looking good for the rest of this week with a very small chance of rain. The teams have now been updated.

DavidParkinThe 2014 Stockdale & Leggo Glen Huntly Past Players Day will be held on Saturday, February 8 at Koornang Park, commencing at 4pm (or 7pm if solely attending for the dinner and guest speaker).

We are delighted to announce David Parkin as our guest speaker. David played 211 games for Hawthorn in the VFL before commencing a celebrated coaching career at three clubs (Hawthorn, Carlton and Fitzroy) and more latterly media stints with 774 ABC and Foxtel.

David will be interviewed on stage by former ‘Negie captain and coach, Elliot Cartledge, followed by a question and answer format.

The 1st XI will be doing battle against Hampton in the afternoon, so this is a terrific opportunity to show your support. As we always do, there will be plenty of scorebooks, photos and memorabilia on display, not to mention the chance to renew acquaintances with old teammates.

Vale Arnold Harrington

arnold-harringtonMembers, friends, past players and the current Carnegie CC committee extend our deepest condolences to Lorna and family upon the passing of Arnold Harrington (1937 – 2013).

Arnold played for many years, held down the post of treasurer for eight years, audited the club’s books and was an active participant in many past players days in recent times. He was an immensely popular figure.

In the words of the late Noel Tyers, we remember “a great Carnegie man”.

Grill’d Local Matters – CCC October

Get into Grill’d and get a healthy burger and drop your token into the CCC jar!

HOW IT WORKS

“It’s a pretty high-tech system involving bottle tops, jars & counting… The $500 will be split amongst 3 local groups. Each group will be represented on a different jar. Every time a customer buys a burger we’ll give them a token (ok, it’s a bottle top from our friends at Little Creatures). Our customers decide who they’d like us to support by choosing which jar to put their token in. At the end of the month, we’ll count up the tokens to figure out who gets what. We’ll split the money $300 / $100 / $100, so everyone gets something. Pretty simple really.”
