On To 2021

We would like to thank those who were able to attend our Seniors presentation night recently held at bad Shepherd from last season which was a good to finally get some closure the 2019/20 season. Well done to all our award winners on a stellar season with either the bat or ball.

We would also like to thank all parents & carers of junior players, junior players, senior men & women players, spectators, sponsors and all our past players for being patient with us as our season is unrolling before us.

We have had many hurdles to overcome this season in regards to covid 19, our rooms currently under construction/renovation and operating out of portable sheds. While things are a little crazy at times the committee & club officials are trying their best to make Koornang Park & Lord Reserve as homely as we can on both Saturdays and Sundays until works are completed. We have recently updated the software on the scoreboard and can now stream BBL and test cricket so keep your ears peeled on when games will be streamed on the scoreboard.

Things to come in the new year will be our Major Raffle, which was postponed last season, with a new date to be confirmed shortly. Another round of Carnegie lotto will be held soon, due to popular demand, after the first round before Christmas. Our other major function, the Trivia Night is in negotiations with council about an offsite premise for us to host our fun night for all.

Key Dates for returning for the weeks of training (please attend on your regular day of training):
SENIOR WOMEN 12 JAN
SENIOR MEN 5 JAN
ISEC JNR. 25 JAN
SECA JNR. 11 JAN
CRICKET BLAST 5 FEB

Whilst many of us will be enjoying some rest and relaxation, many Carnegie junior players will be playing representative cricket and we wish them all the best for their respective tournaments.

Carnegie Cricket Club would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe new year and hope you all are spending it with someone you love. We all look forward to seeing you healthy and fit in January.

From President Stuart Easton and the Committee
Carnegie Cricket Club

Covid-19 Safety

As a club we are fully committed to providing a safe environment for members of our club (volunteers, players, families, spectators) and the wider community and are committed to providing quality practices in line with guidance available from Sport Australia, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, our local council, the Victorian State Government / Department of Health & Human Services and other relevant authorities applicable to our club.

We acknowledge that Cricket in a pandemic is a privilege, not a right. We all need to ensure we are all doing the right thing to ensure the safety of players, volunteers, officials and the local community which is paramount in the current climate.

The committee has adopted the attached Return to Train and Play document which outlines the roadmap for return to community cricket.

We would appreciate it if everyone could have a good read and understand the requirements especially as we near training. The protocols are quite clear and we would like everyone’s support in ensuring the plan is followed and adhered to.

Senior Registrations, Fees Structure and Return to Play for Season 2020/21

Men’s Senior Fees 2020/21

We have now opened registrations for senior men’s cricket for the coming season. We have made some changes to the subscription fees structure to allow for any potential further changes or shortening of the coming season due to Covid-19. As most would know we have always had a payment plan option, this will be the system we use for senior men’s cricket for this season. The reason for this is actual length of the season could change so we have to remain dynamic and using the payment plan this season allows for this. As usual the 1st instalment must be paid to take to the field. Below is the breakdown of the amount of days of cricket played that trigger each instalment to be paid.

1-6 Days of play, 1 Instalment
7-13 Days of play, 2 Instalments
14+ Days of play, 3 Instalments

Instalment charges for Men’s Cricket for Season 2020/21

Senior Student $120 each Instalment
Senior Men $190 each Instalment

Juniors Playing Senior Men’s Cricket for Season 2020/21

Many older juniors and parents would be aware that there will be a junior development side in CSB Div 4 this season. Also, we have added an enhanced pathway up through the senior grades. The option for Juniors playing in senior men’s cricket is also open now, this is a flat $100 once off payment on top of the junior players fees but this is paid separately under the “Senior Cricket” option.

Women’s Senior Fees Season 2020/21

Women’s senior cricket registrations are also open. At this stage all indications are that season 2020/21 will be the same length as last season so the once off payment of $120.00 remains unchanged.

Why Register Now?

We need players to register now so we can finalise our team entries and ground bookings for this season. We expect now that Covid-19 cases are dropping fast that the actual pre-season and the season proper will all happen within a very short period of time. If everybody registers and then tries to make the 1st payment in the days leading up to the season start, it will make the committee and selection panels jobs very tough.

We also understand some players may be experiencing hardship during this time and the club understands this and if you are not in a position to pay your fees at the moment please still register (this option is available without paying) and reach out to Luke Meyer secretary@carnegiecc.com or Glenn Murphy treasurer@carnegiecc.com to discuss how we can help.

Return To Play Update

The latest update from both the CSB and the MCA is that the season will commence on the 14th of November. All matches will be one day games. There will only be a short break at Xmas to maximise days of cricket and the MCA plans to hold GF’s on the 27th/28th March and the CSB 21st/22nd of March. The CSB have made plans to push the finals back a week if there is any further delay to the start of the season. Cricket Victoria appears to be working hard with the state government so I think at this stage these dates are coming from the most informed sources. As soon as structured club training is able to start (currently we are advised training can start from the 26th of October under covid safe conditions) we will update with further communication’s via email and our social channels.

Junior Pre-Season Dates

Welcome back to another season of cricket.  It might be the middle of another rainy, cold Melbourne winter but we are in full swing here at Carnegie Cricket Club preparing for the upcoming cricket season.

Just like previous seasons, we will once again be holding the first three sessions in an indoor centre to kick the training off for the season.  This year we have secured one of Melbourne’s Premier Indoor Centres, YoungGun Cricket.  It’s a beautiful centre and it’s nice and close.  It even has a viewing area where parents can watch and mingle while sessions are being conducted.

These sessions will once again be on late Saturday afternoons/evenings.  We apologise if this time does not work for you but with a lot of our junior players committed to winter sport and training during the week, we find the best time to hold these early season sessions are late on a Saturday.

Venue: YoungGun Cricket
32 Levanswell Rd, Moorabbin
Session 1       Saturday  24th August
Session 2       Saturday  31st August
Session 3       Saturday  07th September
U12 Rookies & Under 12s        4:30pm – 6:00pm
U13, U14, U15, U17 & Girls      6:00pm – 7:30pm

Note:  These sessions are limited to our Junior Players who are looking to play with Carnegie CC in the upcoming 2019/20 season.  New players to Carnegie are welcome to attend.  Master Baster and Junior Blaster training details will be released in the next few weeks.

We look forward to seeing everybody there.

Annual General Meeting

To all Carnegie Cricket Club Members and Supporters,
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 24th June 2019 from 7:30PM at Koornang Park Pavillion.

If you are interested in a position, or have any queries, feel free to contact Luke Meyer on 0433 267 142.

Carnegie Cricket Club Signings for 2019/20 Season

Carnegie Cricket Club’s recruitment committee has been very busy for the past few months working towards getting the best team on the park for the first XI for the coming season.

Coaching

We are delighted to announce Ajay Bhatt has signed on as Head Coach for 2 more years.

Ajay came to Carnegie Cricket Club at the start of the 2018/19 Season, ending the season achieving a phenomenal result of 4 Premierships out of 7 Teams in his First Year.

Ajay Bhatt – “I am excited with this opportunity to continue to develop this great club. I look forward to working with everyone (seniors and juniors) and hopefully add a few more silverware to the collection. I will achieve the impossible!”

Captain

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Abie Sharma as FIRST XI Captain for the 2019/20 Season!!

Abie Sharma – “I would like to thank Carnegie Cricket Club for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am really looking forward to working with the Boys and Coach and, most importantly, get another trophy in the bag.”

We would like to thank Vinay Tripathi (stepping down as captain) for leading the 1ST XI Team for the last 3 years.

Contract Extension

Carnegie Cricket Club is excited to announce Ron Cusack Medallist and Opening Fast Bowler, Tatsat Brahmbhatt has signed on again for another season!!

Tatsat had a fantastic year last season with the new ball taking 22 wickets at 19.18 in the 1st XI. He was also dangerous with the bat amassing a total of 270 runs at an average of 30.

The partnership of Tatsat and the new International Player will be DANGEROUS!! (International Player below)

New Signing

We are delighted to announce the signing of All-Rounder, Saumil Patel!!

Saumil joined us late in last season’s pre-season training and also played in one of our practice matches. However, due to player points issues, we were unable to fit Saumil into the First XI team last season.

Saumil played for Royal Park Brunswick Cricket Club last season in VTCA North Division 1 Competition, dominating with statistics of 310 runs and 27 wickets for the season.

We wish him all the best in the upcoming season.

International Player

Carnegie Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of Thomas Chippendale, a Fast Bowling All-Rounder from the UK.

The 27 year old from Hanging Heaton Cricket Club, comes highly recommended and is excited about getting the chance to let loose on CSB Championship Division batters. Since joining his current club, his side has won every cup available, biggest achievement being the Vitality National Club T20 Cup. Having amassed over 50 wickets in each of the last 3 seasons, Thomas has been asked to represent Bradford Premier Cricket League against County side Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

We wish Thomas all the best for the upcoming season.
