New Player Rules For CSB & MCA

Hi Members

The associations we are affiliated with have applied a host of new rules this season, your captains are across all these new rules. One of laws of cricket that has changed is law 42 this directly involves player behavior. It is important that you read this law and many issues that were considered small issues in the past are now far more serious. Find the attached PDF below.

Call for Applications for Senior Captains

To All Senior Players,

We are well into the preseason training and the start has been a good one. The Coaching Team has been well lead by our head coach, Ash Chawla. We continue with training sessions at Sandown Indoor for the rest of August and early September, Thursdays at 6.45pm and Sundays at 9.45am before heading to Koornang Park in mid September. It is well worth getting a hit and a bowl in before heading to full scale training

We are now calling for applications for Captain’s positions (excluding the 1st XI). An outline of the captain’s major roles is available. We encourage all prospects to apply as internal competition can be healthy for our club.

Please email you application to president@carnegiecc.com and the Committee will assess each application. The window to apply will close at 5pm Tuesday 5th September. Please feel free to contact me with any queries.

We will also open up online registrations soon so please register early so we can plan for the season ahead.

See you at Sandown Indoor!

Ash brings a wealth of experience to the roll, he also brings premier cricket experience. The club feels that Ash can carry on his great work as 1st XI captain from last season and continue that momentum as we proceed to higher grade cricket.

Ash has a great team of experienced assistants under him, these assistants bring batting, bowling and fitness all specifically targeted to improve our overall skill base as we progress to the CSB’s top level.

Get behind the team, be willing to learn and take advice and lets make this another great year.

Dan Patel Announced as Senior Assistant Coach

Carnegie Cricket Club is excited to announce the appointment of Dan Patel as a Senior Assistant Coach. Dan will be focusing on batting coaching with the seniors and will be helping our junior players transition into senior cricket. Dan comes to CCC with long career at all levels in Sub District Cricket and like most of us never stops thinking about cricket!
Dan has already been attending pre-season training and is very keen to get players one on one to work on their techniques. His thoughts on how players should be practicing their batting between matches is also very interesting so if you get a chance have a chat with him.

Carnegie CC Welcomes 2 New Life Members

Last night Carnegie CC welcomed two new Life Members, Joan Dempster and David Morrissey. Both pictured here with President Luke Meyer.

Joan Dempster: Joan has been the clubs most loyal supporter for the past 20+ years. Joan has rarely missed a social function in all of those years and is still a regular down watching Carnegie CC matches both home and away. Joan has also made afternoon teas for the first XI for over 10 years, this has been a great support to all 1st XI skippers over this time. Most players who have been playing at the Neg for many years would consider Joan their grandmother. Well done Joan on this great achievement.

David Morrissey: Dave started playing cricket at Carnegie at the age of 14 and is still playing today, he is still wearing the first XI premiership medallion from last season! Over these 20+ years of service Dave has served many of these years on the committee, the past two season’s as Vice President. Dave has previously been 1st XI captain and has played in multiple premierships whilst at the club. Dave has been a long time 1st XI player as a keeper/batsman and will play his 300th game for the club this season. Dave also designed the clubs website and is heavily involved behind the scenes. Well done to Dave on the great achievement.

UK Recruit Signs for Season 2017-18

Tom Murphy is making his way from the UK to partner Tatsat opening the bowling in our 1st XI. Tom is a tall, young fast bowler with a big future. See his bio below:

“Tom Murphy is a promising up and coming seamer who is another of the Glamorgan Academy players that is looking to head away for his 1st season down under. Tom has represented Wales age groups in the one day and three-day county competitions. He currently plays for Ammanford CC in the South Wales premier league.

Last summer Murphy was named “Ammanford 1st XI team player of the year”, and the summer before that he was named “Glamorgan Academy most promising player”. This was a huge honor for Tom and really put cricket on his radar and grew his love for the game. He is currently a member of the Wales minor county side and will be looking to represent them in all competitions this year”.

Lets all get behind Tom when he arrives in Australia.
