Vinay Tripathi Announced as Captain of the 1st XI for the 2017/18 Season.

Carnegie CC would like to announce the appointment of Vinay Tripathi as 1st XI Captain for season 2017/18. Vinay replaces premiership captain Ash Chawla who stepped down from the roll due to work reasons at our recent presentation night. We would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank Ash for a job well done on bringing home the premiership cup last season!

Vinay had a fantastic season in the 1st XI last year and also did a great job skippering the side when Ash was overseas for a few games. Vinay has held many senior roles within Carnegie CC over the years. Most recently Vinay has been senior club coach for the past two seasons with the club winning 3 premierships in this time. Vinay has also captained numerous sides at the club and is a current member of the recruitment committee.

With the 1st XI moving up to CSB Championship Division next season we are heading into a very exciting time for the club. Vinay is well positioned to continue the success that the 1st XI achieved this season.

Stay tuned for more announcements about the coming season shortly.

Both First XI and the Sunday A Grade win flags

The CCC first XI won their first premiership since 1996/97 this past weekend in the CSB Div 1. This was the 3rd attempt at the 2 day final and the win was completed in style bowling out Brighton District for 71 on day one and passing them prior to stumps on day one. We then returned the following day and batted really well to get to 5 for 157 before Brighton called stumps. Man of the match and club coach Vinay Tripathi with 2 wickets and 46 N/O. The support at the ground both days was tremendous. A great all round performance with the ball and bat, wickets and runs evenly shared across the team. Also thanks to McKinnon CC for hosting the match and doing a fine job.

The Sunday A grade also joined the party late on Sunday as they defeated the Melbourne Cobras in the A-Sunday GF for the 2nd year in a row to go back to back. Batting first at Koornang Park we made 194 off our 45 overs (G Takkiar 69) and then bundled the Cobra’s out for 100. Man of the match Anil Malik with 5/45 (for the second week in row) did the damage with the ball. Again this was also in front of a very large crowd of around 200 very happy supporters.

More reports from the matches to come.

Past & Present Players Day this Saturday evening the 4th from 7.00pm

This Saturday evening is the yearly past and present players day, this year we get a chance to send the Great Steve Yeats off in style and he will be the guest of honor.

The format of the evening will be an interview style format for the first half where Steve will go through his 30+ year career both on and off field and then we will move to a roast format of Steve where he will answer those tricky questions from a selected group of roasters.

We know many current players could not get to the retirement match last Sunday as we had 3 other game running so here is your chance to to see the great man off.

We also have prepared some special gifts for Steve that will be presented during the evening.

For past players we also have some new memorabilia to show off. Please get the word around to any past players that you know to make sure we get a big crowd.

There will be a 2 course meal and the cost of entry is $30.00 per head, there will be raffles and auctions during the evening. The night kicks of at 7.00pm at Koornang Park and everybody is welcome to come down to watch the completion of the first XI game vs Moorabbin Park as the bar will be open from 4pm.
