MCA B Sunday Premiers 2012/13

Carnegie are MCA B Sunday Premiers for 2012/13 after a dominant performance against the Melbourne Cobras last Sunday. After a late start due to rain reduced the match to 38 overs a side, our boys were sent in and immediately set about putting the Cobras bowlers to the sword. Captain Elliot Cartledge led the way with 54 as we set a challenging total of 8/176. In response, several of the Cobras bats made starts, but none of them went on with it. Simon Barker was the pick of the bowlers with 3/21 off 7 as we knocked them over for 129.

A fantastic effort from the team, and a well deserved result after an outstanding season.

B Sunday Grand Final at Koornang Park this Sunday

It’s grand final week, and the big dance is coming to Koornang Park this Sunday with our Sunday 1-day team hosting the Melbourne Cobras in the MCA B Sunday grand final. Elliot’s team have had a fantastic season finishing top of the ladder and are determined to go all the way after some near misses in recent years.

The final kicks off at 11am, and is sure to be an entertaining game of cricket. Your support at any time during the day will be greatly appreciated, so come down and cheer the boys on as they fight to bring home a flag.

Carn the Negie!!

It’s Finals Time!

It’s finals time at the Negie, and this season we have no less than 4 teams in contention, all playing their semi-finals this weekend.

The 1sts claimed 4th spot in VTCA South A1 and will face top side Clayton District at Haughton Rd Reserve, Haughton Rd, Clayton starting at 1pm both Saturday and Sunday. The boys have been in good form lately and are a massive chance of causing an upset here.

The 2nds have claimed a home final, finishing a clear 2nd in VTCA South A2 and will face Hampton at Koornang Park, starting at 1pm both Saturday and Sunday.

The Sunday 1sts were just pipped for top spot in the hotly-contested MCA A Reserve grade and come up against Parkville District at Cordner Oval, Fawkner Park, South Yarra starting at 11am both Saturday and Sunday.

The Sunday 2nds finish top of MCA B Sunday and will be hoping to carry that form into their semi-final against South Yarra at Como Park East, corner Alexandra Avenue and Williams Road, South Yarra. This is a one-day game starting at 11am on Sunday.

The weather will be perfect for cricket-watching this weekend and your support at any one of these games any time across the weekend would be greatly appreciated! If you can’t make it, we’ll be endeavouring to provide updates on our Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Good luck to the 44 players heading out to do battle for CCC this weekend. Carn the Negie!

This Coming Round & Merry Xmas

Well it looks like we will be on the park for the final round for the year. Unfortunately due to lack of the numbers the C3 will have to forfeit their match against Parkdale. A quick run down of the teams thus far.

South A1 –  A fired up A1 team took on our arch enemies Aspendale last week and dispatched them in style.  The win puts the A1 team in 4th heading into tomorrow’s match against Bonbeach. A win could see them move to 3rd if a few other games go our way.

South A2 –  Currently sitting second on the ladder and a win tomorrow against Bonbeach will set up a fantastic match straight after Christmas against ladder leaders Clayton.

South C1 –  Steve Gange and the boys have found it a bit tough trying to get some quality numbers on the park but they managed to get their first win on the board last round for the season. Lets hope with some soldi numbers after Christmas , The C1 will rack up a few more wins and hopefully make a late charge for the finals.

South C3 –  In a similar position to the C1 with playing numbers being the major obstacle. Ash Pandey has done a fantastic job in some difficult circumstances and hopefully we can keep this side going for the rest of the year.

A Res – Ash Chawla never lets the club down and he has once again taking his A Res side to 3rd on the ladder prior to XMAS.  With a few more players expected back for Ash’s side after Xmas, We would hope they will figure greatly come finals.

B Sun – A great win last  week now sees the B Sunday 8 points clear on top of the ladder .  A fine effort by Elliot and the boys who have helped him out all year.

On behalf of the Carnegie Cricket Club General Committee,  we would like to take this opportunity to send Christmas Wishes and New Year greetings to all our members and families and hope to see you on the other side of the break ready for the second half of the year.
